Human beings are all unique – we all experience what we experience in the ways that we experience (or initially at least, in the ways that we are aware that we are experiencing) – so it has to be more appropriate to ask a person “HOW are you experiencing (for example) happiness right now?” than to mind read what they MEAN by the word “happpiness”.
This gives you glimpses into their model of the world (MOW) and also enable you to walk with them in their shoes (rapport) rather than imposing what you think or believe on the same subject.
